Sr Director of Operations


The Sr Director of Operations is a key stakeholder at Scan-Optics.  This position is responsible to develop and execute fundamental operational strategies, including overall management of the Document Processing Operation, Facilities and Logistics.  The leader must ensure effectiveness of the organization by implementing organizational strategies, providing leadership, maintain agreed upon Service Level Agreements with customer(s) and report KPI’s and financial data in a timely fashion. The ability to act strategically, drive performance and foster an environment of continuous improvement is paramount.


Primary Role and Responsibilities

  • The Sr Director directs and manages all operations divisions of company and working closely with building strong relationships with clients, account management and technology teams
  • Directly supervises Equipment Maintenance, Operations, Facilities and Logistics
  • Meet or exceeds goals on a consistent basis by utilizing strong interpersonal communications, organizational, presentation skills and strategically build and maintain profitable business relationship.
  • Works closely with Human Resources to recruit for key strategic talent required by the business
  • Coach and mentor top performers and assist in developing them for leadership positions
  • Responsible for profit and loss of the entire Production Operations to meet revenue and operational goals; works closely with Finance in weekly, monthly and quarterly financial forecasts
  • Ensure staff develops a culture of accountability, pay-for-performance, and respect for all employees while maintaining a pleasant work environment
  • Analysis of contracts to ensure adherence to company policies and payment terms. Work closely with Sales in contract development and negotiations
  • Proven ability to learn, comprehend and articulate complex requirements
  • Oversee the adherence to customer and regulatory requirements
  • Uses sound engineering practices to develop new processes; update existing processes as required for new developments in technology and operations enabling teams to implement improvements to provide world class coverage and support
  • The Sr Director is the subject matter expert and is expected to stay current on relevant technology and competition
  • Lead and drive facilities improvements using strong electro-mechanical skills
  • Directs all logistics and warehouse management activities; including capacity analysis


Skills and Knowledge

  • History of effective mentorship, leadership, coaching, change management and team-building
  • Experience in managing team conflicts and competency management
  • Knowledge and use of process driven problem-solving methods
  • Proven experience running an operations organization including exposure to procurement and business management processes
  • Ability to think strategically beyond the needs of the organization today. The company is growing rapidly and needs someone who can adapt and facilitate change
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Ability to work at all levels of the organization effectively
  • Strong technical/engineering background and aptitude
  • Demonstrated understanding of lean manufacturing concepts
  • Attention to detail, self-driven, ability to work independently, competitive and passion for success
  • Outstanding communication, convincing and negotiation skills


Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business or operations management
  • Minimum 7 – 10 years in operational experience working in production operations
  • Formal Quality system certification or equivalent experience/training.
  • Successful track record managing employees within a service business model to achieve outstanding customer satisfaction.
  • Lean management and Six Sigma certifications are a plus
  • Proven history of operational excellence and financial performance
